Celebrity Sighting... sort of

The guide on our water ferry back to the ship said that this particular
piece of property is owned by Nicholas Cage. Originally, it was owned by
Charlie Chaplin.

Jeep Adventure

Here we are with our Jeep for the Jeep Adventure shore excursion. I had to
drive since I was the only one of our little group of four that could drive
a standard.

Ben's Cave

Here we are in Ben's Cave in Lucaya National Park. This cave is actually a
hole in the ground that we climbed into. Apparently, National Geographic
has send divers into the underwater part of the cave for exploration.

Taino Beach

One of the stops on our Jeep Adventure today (Wed) was Taino Beach. The
water is absolutely beautiful here!

Sunrise in Freeport

I took this picture as the sun came up on Wednesday morning. The ship was
just pulling into the harbor at Freeport at the time.

Our ship comes in!

We got to watch as the Carnival Victory arrived in Charleston, SC for our
trip. This picture was taken from the deck just behind the Fort Sumpter
museum, which was probably 2 or 300 yards from the passenger terminal.

Good morning!

This was the view from our balcony at about 8 o'clock Tuesday morning
looking west. According to the map on TV, we would be located somewhere
near the Georgia/Florida border... north of Jacksonville.

Meet & Greet

We had a Meet & Greet on Sunday night at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co in downtown Charleston for members of the Cruise Critic message board for the Carnival Victory. Missy set it up and 3 couples who are cruising with us showed up. The food & drink was fine... I recommend the Boat Trash and the Shrimp & Grits. Don't forget the Palmetto Ale. Very nice!

OMG!! Gas below $3 a gallon!

Missy wanted me to post this one. She said Eric would appreciate it. Anyway, we decided to leave a day early for the cruise & drive half way. As we passed through Wytheville, VA, I noticed that the price of gas had dropped below $3 a gallon. Missy said we'd better stop because she'd heard that gas was really expensive in NC. She was right... by the time we hit the Charlotte area, gas was back up to $3.05.

We are spending the night near the Charlotte airport tonight before heading to Charleston, SC in the morning. I promise more interesting updates Sunday night or Monday morning.

Welcome!

Missy & I are preparing to go on our very first cruise in a couple of weeks... so, I created this blog to help share our adventure with family & friends. We will be cruising on the Carnival Victory out of Charleston, SC to the Bahamas the week of October 20th. I am taking the laptop and hope to be able to post daily from the ship. I chose this cruise as a celebration of our 10th anniversary which is May 23rd. Originally, we were to be taking this cruise back in May, but the arrival of our 2nd grandchild, Karleigh, on May 30th had us pushing back the cruise until October. This particular cruise is significant to us as we ended up taking our honeymoon in Charleston, SC. Our original plans were to spend our honeymoon in Daytona for the Nascar race, however, the race was postponed due to wild fires that year. So, I guess it is rather fitting that this cruise got postponed for us as well. Btw, we will actually be staying at the same hotel in Mt Pleasant, SC that we stayed in 10 years ago.
